Black Hill Primary School considers swimming to be an essential part of our Health and Physical Education Program.

Students in Years Prep - 2 take part in a Swimming and Water safety program in Term 4 each year at the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre. Students in years 3 - 6 take part in a Swimming and Water Safety Program during Term 1 that involves a one week intensive at the Black Hill Pool and 5 weekly lessons at the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre. In addition to the Swimming Programs students are taught water safety through the PE program and our year 5/6 students take part in the 'open water' learning experience run by Lifesaving Victoria.

All instructors are Austswim qualified and work with the school staff, including our PE teacher who is also Austswim trained, to deliver individually tailored swimming programs.
